Marian Wait Walsh, a
founding member of the firm, is a native Saratogian, and a 1971 graduate
of Cornell University. She raced on the Cornell Women’s Downhill Ski
Team, and served as Captain her senior year. After college, she taught
junior high school mathematics in Saranac Lake, New York, then worked in
banking in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, for approximately two years,
becoming fluent in Dutch.
After returning to the States, she graduated from Boston University
School of Law in 1981. She first practiced law with Sullivan, Gregg and
Horton in Nashua, New Hampshire for three years, then returned to the
Capital District. After working at Miller, Mannix, Lemery & Kafin in
Glens Falls (one year) and Hiscock and Barclay in Albany, New York
(three years), she opened up her own practice in Saratoga Springs. In
1991, she and her husband, Joseph, became partners in Walsh & Walsh.
The primary areas of Mrs. Walsh’s current practice are banking, estate
planning, Medicaid planning and elder law, wills, trusts, probate,
corporations, contracts, real estate, homeowners’ associations, and
business formation and advice, including corporations, limited liability
companies (LLCs), partnerships (LLPs) and not-for-profit corporations.
Mrs. Walsh served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Albany
Medical Center in Albany, New York for six years, serving on the College
Affairs Committee and Audit Committee. She has served on other area
not-for-profit boards as well.
Mrs. Walsh was born in Albany, New York, February 8, 1949; admitted to
bar, 1981, New Hampshire (inactive); 1985, New York and U.S. District
Court, Northern District of New York. Education: Cornell University
(B.S., 1971); State University of New York (M.S., 1973); Boston
University (J.D., 1981). Member: Saratoga County, New York State and
American Bar Associations.
